In commemoration of Nirvana’s «Nevermind» album’s 30th anniversary, Fender has issued a special edition of Kurt Cobain’s Jag-Stang guitar. The guitar is based on late Kurt Cobain’s bespoke creation, which incorporates favorite aspects from his Fender Jaguar and Mustang guitars. Kurt designed it in 1993 in conjunction with the firm. For his ideal Fender guitar, Jag-Stang also used Cobain’s sketches and doodles, which could be located in his personal journals. Cobain visited the Jag-Stang many times during his In Utero tour, which ended in April 1994.
«I’ve always enjoyed various aspects of particular guitars since I started playing, but I could never find the ideal mix of everything I was searching for,» Cobain stated in a 1994 interview with Fender Frontline. — The Jag-Stang is the closest to perfection.
The Cobain Jag-Stang, available in Fiesta Red and Sonic Blue in both left and right-handed versions, has an alder body, 7.25-inch rosewood neck, single coil pickups, and custom humbuckers in vintage style.
«We were fascinated with how complex the design was when we looked at the designs that Kurt Cobain made for his ideal guitar,» says Justin Norvell, executive vice president of Fender Products. — We respect the original model, thus the new Jag Stang retains all of its original features. We didn’t do anything new since we wanted it to be consistent with Kurt’s concept. We knew we wanted to bring Kurt Cobain’s vision to reality because of our long-standing partnership with the Kurt Cobain Estate. It was an honor for site me to contribute to the realization of his vision and the revitalization of this model.
The Kurt Cobain Jag-Stang costs £1,249.
